Happy Holidays everyone!
What a difference a year makes! Jordan turned 2 on Father’s Day, what an incredible gift that was. We celebrated with a small get together with close friends and family, and of course a showing of his favorite movie, Disney’s Cars. He is talking a lot now. What used to be frustrated pointing and grunting have now been replaced with full sentences. “Mommy, I want to eat ladybugs for dinner please”. Well, at least now we know what he wants J He’s been to Disneyland twice already. At first he didn’t understand what the big deal was until he met Lightning McQueen and Mater for the first time. It was like meeting a couple of rock stars!
In October we took a trip to Monterey, and Jordan got to ride in an airplane - his 2nd plane trip. High on the list of activities was a visit to the Dennis the Menace park, where John had spent many childhood vacation days playing. This park was established in 1956 and has become a Monterey institution. Some of Jordan’s favorite activities were climbing & exploring the Old Steam Engine, the slides, climbing walls and tunnels. We checked out the tide pools and walked around Pacific Grove, savored some really good clam chowder and of course spent a couple of days at the Monterey Aquarium. But the highlight of the trip was the glass elevators at the hotel, which Jordan loved to watch and ride all day long. All in all, this trip really made an impression on Jordan as he’s been talking about elevators, jellyfish, starfish and shark ever since!
Grandma Lucy turned 70 this year, and we had a big surprise weekend planned for her. The whole family came to town for a reunion, and it was great to see cousins and relatives again. She had absolutely no idea about our plans, and the look on her face when she walked in to a houseful of loved ones was priceless!
Lauren & John celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary this year with a trip to Big Bear. Jordan had a blast swimming in the pool and hiking along Big Bear Lake. John went on a couple of camping trips to Zion with his friend Shaw, and Lauren is keeping busy with work at SAIC and the endless list of home projects. Grandma Lucy is enjoying being a grandma and traveling to visit family.
We have so much to be thankful for this year, and we hope your 2007 was the same. Here’s wishing your holidays are bright and merry, and blessed with love and peace!
With love,
Lauren, John, Jordan and Grandma Lucy
